Help Jeanine GROW the GRuB Hive

It is hard to see in the darkness of our global climate - in the world and on the planet. Winter is the season for darkness; a time for shadows to grow longer as the earth turns away from the sun, and the world around us puts itself to sleep. Animals hibernate and plants shut down to store energy until the warmth of the sun returns. As humans, we take this time to be indoors and surround ourselves with family as we huddle around our fires for warmth. We take the time to nurture our foundations for stronger and more meaningful relationships. Winter is a time for reflection. It is a time to consider where we have been and what lies ahead. As we stare into the fires that share our glow, it is the time to reflect on what we believe in. We consider what fuels our fires of passion, creativity and inspiration. What feeds our spirit and helps us build a stronger community? The past few years I have teetered along trying to find my place and discovered roots in the rich soil of GRuB. In my time here as the Events and Marketing Coordinator I have found community, family as well as a place for me to make meaningful change. Learn more about GRuB HERE.

"There are dark shadows on the earth, but its lights are stronger in the contrast.”  -Charles Dickens

GRuB is a light for many people in our community. It is a place to sow seeds - to heal, grow and share food together. GRuB is a place where differences are celebrated and where youth are empowered to share their voices to become community leaders. Veterans, youth and volunteers gather together to support our work. At GRuB, we are encouraged to build healthier relationships, share in meaningful conversations and ask hard questions that push ourselves to grow as individuals as well as an organization. While this is not always easy, it is crucial growth from soil to society.

During this time we shift our focus to the light in the shadows. We do not give up hope and continue to fight for change. How can one be the light in the darkness? GRuB offers hope to many people by building gardens and teaching people to grow their own food. The bounty from our farm is shared with local organizations such as: Senior Services, Thurston County Food Bank, local school districts and more. By opening our hearts, minds and doors to those who need it most we continue to shape our vision.

Over the next few weeks, I aim to raise $1000 for GRuB!  I believe in GRuB's mission of empowering disengaged youth and low-income people to grow their own food. I believe that everyone has a right to healthy food and I believe in the future that GRuB works to create. Your support fosters local change with profound impact.
